Cricut Cartridge Review ~ Disney Dreams Come True

As you may already know, I am a huge Disney fan, so as soon as I purchased my Cricut, my goal was to get all the Disney cartridges available.  I was very excited when my family purchased the two princess cartridges, Dreams Come True and Happily Ever After, for me.  But I now have a love/hate relationship with them.  Let's start with what I love.

First, between the two cartridges there are 8 princesses, along with princes and supporting characters.  Dreams Come True includes Ariel, Belle, Jasmine and Pocahontas.  Happily Ever After includes Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Mulan.  My daughters love all of these princesses, so I have tested out both cartridges extensively.  Just for an example, we'll talk about Jasmine.  You have the option of creating Jasmine in several poses, including two with Aladdin, as well as individual Abu and Genie.  There are also several icons to make, such as an elephant, the magic lamp, a slipper, Jasmine's headwear, and several others.  There is a great selection of embellishments that can be made just from the icons!  Each princess has her own collection from her story.  There are also frames and corners to match each fairy tale.

Now for what I do not like.  These princesses have an extensive number of pieces to cut and some are so small, I can't even figure out how to get them off the mat!  Then, if I can manage to get them off the mat, even with tweezers I can't hold them and put adhesive on them.  Now being somewhat new to using the Cricut, there could be some strategy out there for completing these, but I have yet to discover that.  So, basically, I cut all the pieces and the ones too small to glue, I use my gel pens to color in the spots.  Not really a great look since I definitely do not have the steady hand some other crafters have.

Last spring I created Cars wall hangings for my son's Cars themed room using my Cricut machine.  (You can see my Cars walll hangings in my post Joey's Disney-Pixar Cars Room).  They came  out great, but of course, they were at a larger size, so the small details were not so difficult to glue together.  I decided since this spring we will be turning the girls' room into a princess room, I would start making some princess wall hangings for them.  Since I am making the princesses at 11" tall, it isn't so bad with the small pieces, but I have only created one so far, Jasmine.

Just quick little story though, I planned to post this earlier, but couldn't find my Jasmine to take a picture of her to add to this article.  I looked everywhere. Now the only person I know in this house who would take it off my table would be my three year old, Emily.  After asking her several times where Jasmine was, I was told she was busy having tea.  Emily is the tea party queen around here.  When I checked out her room, here is what I found.  Can you spot my Jasmine in there?
